The Itinerary
July 27th | Algiers
  • Own arrival into Algiers. Airport transfers are provided to our hotel downtown.
  • After settling in, it’s time to start our afternoon Algiers tour.
  • Visit the casbah of Algiers – a UNESCO world heritage site, along with Dar Mustapha Pacha and pass by the Ketchaoua mosque at the bottom of Martyrs Square.
  • See the Basilica of Notre Dame d’afrique, Martyrs Monument, and Botanical Gardens and stroll through the city centre. 
  • Visit the War Museum and the Revolutionary Monument commemorating the Algerian War & the struggle for independence from France. The monument was opened in 1982 on the 20th anniversary of Algeria’s independence. It represents the shape of three standing palm leaves, each with a statue of a soldier underneath it as it protects the eternal flame.
  • Dinner and overnight in Algiers.
July 28th | Algiers - Tipaza - Ghardaia
  • After breakfast, depart for Tipaza, a charming coastal town west of Algiers. Upon arrival, explore the UNESCO-listed archaeological site, home to remarkably preserved Roman remains. Walk through the ancient theater, amphitheater, and bath complexes, all set against a striking Mediterranean backdrop that highlights Tipaza’s historical importance as a Roman port city.
  • Enjoy fresh seafood at a local restaurant in Tipaza, featuring seasonal Mediterranean catches in a relaxed seaside setting.
  • In the afternoon, drive back to Algiers and visit the Palais des Raïs, also known as Bastion 23—a beautifully preserved Ottoman-era complex and a shining example of Moorish architecture overlooking the bay.
  • Continue with a stop at La Grande Poste, an iconic landmark built in 1910 and still the largest post office in Algeria, admired for its distinctive neo-Moorish design.
  • In the evening, transfer to the airport for a domestic night flight to Ghardaïa. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.
  • Overnight in Ghardaïa.

July 29th | Ghardaia - Algiers
  • Begin the day with a guided tour of Ghardaïa, discovering its distinctive urban layout and vibrant atmosphere. Stroll through the lively local market, where traders sell dates, spices, textiles, and everyday goods, offering a genuine insight into daily life in the M’Zab region.
  • Continue to the neighboring fortified town of Beni Isguen, renowned for its strict traditions, watchtower, and carefully preserved architecture.
  • Proceed into the heart of the M’Zab Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site composed of five historic ksour nestled in the Sahara Desert. The valley is celebrated for its harmonious urban planning, earth-toned architecture, and ingenious adaptation to the desert environment. With its clean lines, compact design, and functional beauty, the M’Zab Valley has long inspired architects and modern urban planners around the world, making it a true photographer’s paradise.
  • Visit the Ksar of Ghardaïa, often described as the pearl of the oasis. As you explore its narrow streets, traditional houses, and central mosque, the sense of stepping back in time is unmistakable. The absence of modern intrusions preserves an atmosphere of authenticity, allowing visitors to experience a way of life shaped by centuries of tradition and community values.
  • In the evening, we will fly back to Algiers and overnight.

July 30th | Djemila - Constantine

  • Today, we depart for the ancient Roman city of Djemila, one of Algeria’s most impressive archaeological treasures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The journey takes approximately two hours, following Algeria’s iconic northern highway and gradually ascending into a scenic mountain landscape that leads to this remarkably preserved hilltop settlement.
  • Visit at the Djemila Museum, home to an outstanding collection of Roman mosaics, statues, and everyday artifacts that vividly illustrate life in this former colony of Cuicul. The museum provides essential historical context before entering the archaeological site itself.
  • Continue on foot through the cobbled streets of the ancient city, exploring its key monuments, including the theatre, the Christian quarter, several temples, the forum, and the well-preserved Roman baths.
  • After the visit, enjoy lunch at a nearby local restaurant, offering a relaxed break before the afternoon journey.
  • Later in the day, depart for Constantine, a drive of approximately two hours. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel, followed by dinner and an overnight stay in Constantine.

July 31st | Constantine - Oran

  • Breakfast at the hotel and begin our city tour exploring Constantine – also known as the City of Bridges.
  • Our first stop is the Ahmed Bey Palace – one of the finest Ottoman-era buildings in Algeria. A majestic palace filled with courtyards, gardens, and orchards. Expensive tiles crafted in Algeria and France decorate the building.
  • Walk over the iconic Pont de Sidi M’Cid – a 164-metre-long suspension bridge across the Rhummel River. Built by the French it was the highest bridge in the world from 1912 to 1929.
  • Stop by the Monument aux Morts – a memorial that honours the city’s dead from World War I. More than 173,000 Algerians fought in World War I under the banner of France, with many of them taking part in the Battle of Verdun and other well-known battles of the war. Sadly, more than 36,000 of these Algerian soldiers perished during the war.
  • Visit the Monument of the Dead, which was built after the First World War.
  • Afternoon Lunch at El Khaimah – one of the top restaurants in Algeria, known for its excellent service and food. The restaurant offers a wide selection of local wines and dishes. Méchoui, or spit-roasted lamb, is among the best you
    will ever find in the region.
  • Visit the Great Mosque of Constantine constructed in 1135CE.
  • Walk along the Medina located in the heart of the old Constantine – a place full of life and merchants selling traditional street food and sweets.
  • Stop by to explore the Emir Abd El Kader Mosque – the second-largest mosque in the country.
  • After Dinner we take the late night flight to Oran.

August 1st | Oran

  • After breakfast, set out on a guided tour of Oran, Algeria’s vibrant coastal city known for its Andalusian heritage, colonial architecture, and musical legacy.
  • Begin at Place d’Armes, the historic heart of the city, before visiting the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, an impressive example of early 20th-century architecture.
  • Continue uphill to the Basilica of Santa Cruz and Fort Santa Cruz, dramatically positioned above the city. From here, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over Oran and the Mediterranean Sea, offering excellent photo opportunities and insight into the city’s strategic past.
  • Return toward the city center for a relaxing walk along the seafront promenade, where daily life unfolds against a backdrop of palm-lined avenues and ocean views.
  • Enjoy lunch at a carefully selected local restaurant, featuring regional specialties and fresh Mediterranean flavors.
  • In the afternoon, explore another side of Oran’s cultural heritage. Visit the historic Bey’s (Pacha) Palace, a former Ottoman residence reflecting the city’s rich past. Continue through the traditional market, where stalls display local produce, spices, and crafts, offering an authentic glimpse into everyday life.
  • Conclude the city tour with a visit to the Oran Opera House, an elegant landmark that highlights the city’s artistic and musical identity, closely linked to the origins of Raï music.
  • Overnight in Oran.

August 2nd | Oran - Total Eclipse Day

  • Early breakfast at the hotel in Oran. The morning is kept relaxed to allow sufficient rest and preparation for the day’s main event.
  • Late morning transfer to a pre-selected optimal viewing location along the Oran coastline or elevated viewpoints, chosen for clear horizons, accessibility, and maximum totality duration. 
  • Witness the total solar eclipse, one of the longest of the century, as the moon completely covers the sun. We will experience the dramatic changes in light, temperature, and atmosphere during totality, with ample time for photography.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant featuring Mediterranean cuisine, offering a comfortable setting to unwind and reflect on the experience.
  • Free time for a short walk along the seafront or a café/shopping stop.
  • Transfer to Oran Airport for the flight back to Algiers. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.
  • Dinner and overnight in Algiers.

August 3rd | Departure

  • Transfer to the airport.
  • End of Algeria tour.
