Welcome to an unforgettable seven-day journey across Yemen’s mainland, expanding deep into the extraordinary Hadramout region and concluding in the coastal serenity of Salalah, Oman.
After our immersive research expedition in 2023, we fell in love with the raw beauty, cultural depth, and warm hospitality of Hadramout — and soon, you will too.
Over the course of this week-long adventure, you’ll traverse ancient cities, timeless wadis, and dramatic desert landscapes. From the legendary mud-brick towers of Shibam to the vibrant souks of Seiyun, from the coastal charm of Mukalla to the sweeping routes that lead you across the border into Oman, each day reveals a new layer of history, heritage, and natural wonder.
There is nowhere on the Arabian Peninsula as authentic, welcoming, or culturally rich as this region.

Yemen mainland tour - Itinerary
December 26th | Day 1 - Cairo - Seiyun
- Meet in Cairo airport before our morning flight to Seiyun, Yemen.
- Arrival in Seiyun. Officially kicking off our Yemen mainland tour!
- Pick up from the airport and head straight into town to exchange money & shop for some local clothing.
- Drive to Hawta Palace Hotel & check in.
- Drive to Shibam for sunet photos overlooking the historic town.
- Dinner at the hotel & overnight.
Decemebr 27th | Day 2 - Hawta - Aynat - Tarim - Hawta
- In the morning we visit the Sultan Palace in Seiyun and look around the local market.
- We drive to visit Tarim town – the Sufi historical town built of Mud.
- Visit Tarim tiny market and the Al-Mihdar mosque – complete with the world’s largest mud minaret.
- Lunch in Tarim, then drive to visit the Hood Prophet shrine.
- Drive back to Hawta town.
- Dinner & overnight.
December 28th | Day 3 - Hawta - Shibam - Wadi Doa'n
- Today’s the day to visit the most beautiful town in Arabia! The Manhattan of Arabia itself: Shibam Hadramout.
- We discover the town on foot while checking out some of the houses, antique shops and rooftops.
- After we drive 2 hours towards stunning Wadi Doa’n and stop for photos at Al-Hajjrain.
- Dinner and overnight in the spectacular Haid Al-Jizil Hotel.
December 29th | Day 4 - Wadi Doa'n
- After breakfast, we drive before starting our trek down to Hawfah village in Wadi Do’an.
- It’s a 1-hour trek downhill with beautiful panorama viewpoints.
- Then we drive to visit Buqshan village, (with multi-coloured palaces) and then drive to another beautiful panorama of Wadi Doa’n it’s called – the Budha area.
- Stop to photograph the villages in Wadi Do’an including Qarn Majed village & other villages on the way until the grand Budha viewpoint.
- Drive to Al-Rubat town. Walk the streets and mingle with locals in this wadi town. It’s also the historical home to the Bin-Laden family – we can even see the now abandoned Bin-Laden family home.
- Drive to Al-Khuraiba town & then drive back to Haid Al-Jizil.
- Sunset view at Haid Al-Jizil Viewpoint over Wadi Doa’n.
- Dinner & Overnight at the Haid Al-Jizil Hotel.
December 30th | Day 5 - Wadi Doa'n - Mukhalla
- Drive from the beauty of Haid Al-Jizil all the way to Mukhalla city on the coast.
- On arrival we’ll visit Al-Ghwayzi Fort & Khoor Mukhalla.
- Check into the hotel before visiting Mukhalla old town & market.
- Dinner & overnight in the Ramada Mukhalla Hotel.
December 31st | Day 6 - Mukhalla - Qeshin - Al-Ghaydha
- Up early for the drive from Mukhalla towards Al-Ghaydha.
- Our drive takes us all the way along the Arabian Sea coastline. On the way we will stop at Sayhoot fisherman’s town and beach where we can witness the fishermen at work.
- Continue driving to Khiseet – another beautiful coastal village. We will stop here for lunch.
- After lunch we drive to Qeshin town and then continue onto to Al-Ghaydha town.
- Dinner at Al-Zafran restaurant & Overnight in the Marina Hotel.
January 1st | Day 7 - Al-Ghayda - Surfeet - Salalah
- After breakfast we drive to Surfeet on the Omani border.
- We’ll have several photo stops at fisherman villages along the way.
- Say goodbye to our Yemeni friends before continuing onto Salalah, Oman, arriving in the evening.
- End of Yemen tour.

You’ll be in the vastly experienced hands of our English-speaking local guides & fixers as well as your Rocky Road Travel guide. Given the unpredictable nature of travelling in Yemen, the itinerary may change slightly, but we will always go above and beyond with added extras where possible.
